Good morning, San Francisco!
Well, maybe TODAY is the day! After a cramped but passable night in the Hyatt Regency San Francisco Airport, we're ready to give this another go today. Our flight to London doesn't leave until 4:55pm today so we're spending far more time hanging around this part of town than I would have preferred, but at least we're doing it in a comfortable hotel instead of some airport somewhere. Even if our direct flight to LHR is delayed, at least we'll get to Europe... unless it gets cancelled. We've got a two hour window to make the connection from LHR to CPH. If we miss that, there are 3 more LHR->CPH flights later that day with seats available so we'll get there.
The weather doesn't look that bad,
but I guess it doesn't take that much. I just read about how SFO's volume drops because they can't use the runways in parallel during bad weather.
Putting my Hyatt Platinum status to work with free internet and late check-out, plus a fist full of airport food vouchers will make for a fun afternoon!
2:30pm - SFO
Things look good today... we got to the airport without incident, shed our larger bags, collect boarding passes for both legs of the trip and got through security.
We put the food vouchers we got the day before to good use.
We watched our plan roll past the windows while we were eating.
While the rest of the family rushed down to the gate (we don't start boarding until 4:00pm for our 4:55 flight), I found a quiet spot to catch up on things (like this blog post) and where I could "top off" charge my devices.
If only airports were always as quiet and peaceful as the international terminal at SFO on a Tuesday afternoon... air travel would seem much more pleasant.
