After flying all night and nearly missing our connection in LHR, we arrived safely in Copenhagen, navigated the train from the airport to downtown, found our apartment and set up camp.
Bonus! Just as we were boarding, they pulled us aside and upgraded us from World Traveler to World Travler Plus. (from last to second to last in a 4-class service... but it meant more legroom, and a nicer meal.... wahoo!)
Going through the carry-on security in Heathrow was interesting. Apparently, if the x-ray operator sees something he doesn't like the whole line stops while everyone looks at it, then they call a supervisor over and he looks at it. Then if questions of the bag owner don't yield satisfactory results, the bag goes in a separate queue for detailed search. We watched that happen twice in our line.. then it happened to Laura. We waited and waited in the secondary bag search line while our comfortable 2-hour connection time dwindled to less than 25 minutes. By the time we got to the gate, they were calling "last call"... but we we made it.
All our bags arrived, but the booster seat we so cleverly checked for Elodie did not show. We burned another hour waiting and filing a claim for it in airport at CPH.... I'm beginning to think it would have been easier to just buy one when we got here. We'll see if it shows up.
We got to our apartment in Copenhagen (right next to the Round Tower). Laura and the kids went out to gather food for a "home cooked" meal in our base for the next three nights. I'm fighting hard to stay awake until at least 10pm so I can get on a more normal schedule for this timezone.
