Had a great first full day in Copenhagen today. While Charlie and Laura went for a run this morning, the girls and I went exploring for breakfast pastries. Sort of opposite missions.
After a light breakfast, and a stroll past some cool buildings

After that, it was off to the Rosenborg Castle Gardens. These gardens, surrounding Rosenborg Slot, once the private grounds of the royal castle are a beautiful park in central Copenhagen filled with tree lined walks and sculptures.
Then we went to visit the castle itself. The public can tour three floors of the castle and the treasury in the basement where the crown jewels are kept. It's an impressive display.
After all that walking, it was definitely time for lunch. Since we watched many, many Samantha Brown travel shows... including her Copenhagen episode. One of the things she does is visit Ida Davidson, a famous restaurant here. Apparently, we overlooked the part about needing to have reservations.
Our visit involved walking to the front door and being told that we could not eat there without a reservation and that taking a sandwich to go would be an hour wait. Umm... so much for that.
We walked down the street and found a lovely little cafe called Amadeus. They had a nice patio and though it was a little chilly, there were blankets you could use to put on your lap. We used three at our table. We had a pretty enjoyable meal, no waiting left satisfied.
I was still feeling a little time-shifted. I made it to about 4pm before conking out, but since we had a pretty good day, I felt a nap was going to be ok. Woke up and we all enjoyed another "home cooked" dinner in our flat. It's nice here.
Good news! Elodie's missing booster seat surfaced and has arrived in Copenhagen. We'd checked it and while the rest of our bags arrived fine, this item missed the connection in LHR and didn't turn up until today. British Airways says they'll deliver it to us. That'd be nice. It's a beat-up old booster seat so I wont loose sleep if we can't connect, but it would be convenient to have it by the time we switch to driving mode on this trip.
Tomorrow, the plan is Nyhavn and Tivoli Gardens.
